English National Sheepdog Trials

8th - 11th August 2024

Summer 2024 sees Dartmoor hosting the English National Sheepdog Trials for the first time. It's set to be a real spectacle of rural skills, with over 150 elite dogs and their handlers competing at Moorlands Farm (less than 10 minutes drive from the Two Bridges Hotel) - a glorious venue for this showcase of upland sheep farming.

The British tradition of sheepdog trials and the Border Collie dates back to the 1870's. More recently, the popular TV series "One Man and his Dog" brought sheepdog trialling to an international audience, and provided a showcase for British shepherds and upland farming.

The four day English National Sheepdog Trials is expected to draw a large and enthusiastic crowd of spectators, and the event will also include a small country fair, bar and entertainment, a tug-of-war on the Friday night and live music on Saturday night.

If you need directions, please just ask a member of the team at the Two Bridges Hotel.
